In Greene County district court Nickalos Andrew Brown, 25, of Jefferson was sentenced April 7 to six months in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense, amended from OWI- second offense. All but two days of the jail time was suspended and he was placed on probation to Boone/Greene County Probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. He may complete the Des Moines Area Community College alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. Brown was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if he obtains a temporary restricted license. He must pay an amount not to exceed $1,000 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $558.12. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
In a separate case, Brown pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia, amended from possession of marijuana. He was fined $105 with a $37.50 surcharge. Karl Maurice Krieger, 27, of Jefferson was sentenced to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of reckless use of fire or explosives. He was fined $430 with a $64.50 surcharge. He must pay an amount not to exceed $1,000 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Becky Sue Mitchell, 52, of Ogden was sentenced to 10 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. No judgment for a fine or surcharge was entered. Andres Tejeda Perez, 30, of Webster City was sentenced to 10 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of driving while license barred. He was fined $855 with a $28.25 surcharge; both were suspended. He must pay an amount not to exceed $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. A charge against Dalton Weber, 22, of Scranton of supplying alcohol to person under a legal age (three counts) was dismissed April 1. Weber was assessed $176 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Corey Allen Mutum, 26, of Carroll, theft- fourth degree; and Katarina Nichole Stinson of Paton, driving while licensee revoked. Trial dates were set for May 11 in both cases.
